Coronavirus test sites set up along Garden Route

Cape Town – Several Covid-19 testing sites have been set up along the Garden Route.

District health spokesperson Nadia Ferreira said all clinics in Knysna and Bitou, as well as the Knysna Hospital, were able to test for the virus.

“Patients who match the case definition will be tested for the virus at all fixed clinics in George, as well as George Hospital and at Haarlem, Uniondale, Herold Satellite Clinic and Uniondale Hospital,” Ferreira said.

Entrance 4 at the George Hospital was closed this week; staff, visitors and patients have been asked to use Entrance 1 instead, where all can be screened.

In Mossel Bay, the public can be tested at the Alma Clinic, D’Almeida Clinic, Great Brak Clinic and the Mossel Bay Hospital.

Hessequa sub-district patients who match the case definition can be tested for the virus at all clinics and the Riversdale Hospital.

In Kannaland, patients can be tested for the virus at Ladismith Clinic, Zoar Clinic, Amalienstein Clinic, Calitzdorp Clinic and Alan Blyth Hospital.

Patients can also be tested at the Oudtshoorn Hospital. The public has been advised to call all facilities before visiting.

New visiting hours for all hospitals are from 7pm to 8pm, with only one visitor per patient allowed and no children under 12.

Those showing coronavirus symptoms can call the NICD hotline on 0800 029 999 or the provincial hotline on 021 928 4102.
