WHEN DID THIS STUFF GET SO SERIOUS?
I have to say, I was very impressed with this volume in the D.Gray-Man series. The plot, the action, the characters everything was just wonderfully, addictingly done. And the tone, the atmosphere, the dude-this-shit-is-serious stuff over it all? Amazingly done. All of that fun, light hearted stuff that's been surrounding D.Gray-Man from the beginning has really transformed from that first volume until we come to this end of the world feeling you get in this volume.
And strangely enough, while I loved the simple hilarity and giggly moments I got in the first few volumes of D.Gray-Man, I have to admit I love this serious tone even more. I love the growth Hoshino has show us in her artstyle and her writing throughout this series, and I am so amazed how quickly these characters have gotten a hold of my heart, and are now keeping me so enthralled and panicky about their well-being.
So the plot was very intriguing in this one, epic battles, crazy conspiracies, and the some answers to those mysterious scenes we saw a few volumes back and were a bit confused about. Hoshino knows how to play her readers well, and keep us guessing about what's really going on. AND I LOOOOVVVEE IT.
Sorry for all the fangirl moments, btw, Shonen's kind of my thing. Like a lot.
Anyway, all in all, this sixth volume in the D.Gray-Man series was fantastic addition to the series with great action, character building, and story. 4.5/5
