It's not that this volume was hard to understand, it's just the fact that Zangetsu and Hollow Ichigo are one of the same, and then in weapon form turned into TWO swords instead of one.
I figured a while ago that Zangetsu and Hollow Ichigo were the same person (partly because it SAID it), but knowing that it was Hollow Ichigo who saved real Ichigo in his desperate times in need is... Kinda cool actually. I had thought it was Zangetsu, but turns out he was attempting to wimp out and avoid fighting Ichigo.
The thing is, is that Zangetsu didn't want Ichigo to walk the path of a Soul Reaper because he didn't want to battle with him, but then they never actually did fight. :/
To be honest, I was sort of relieved that they didn't need to fight, because although Zangetsu is Ichigo's Quincy powers, I've become attached to him enough that I can't watch him "die".
Even though this was more of a transition volume, it was still interesting because Ichigo gets even stronger, and there still was a little action in the end.
Uryû's part comes into play as Yhwach's successor a little bit more. I TOTALLY called it many reviews ago, but I still got it right. Turning down and offer to help your friends to "stay behind"? It's not like he was doing anything important, and with an evil army of Quincies on the loose, it was pretty obvious he was involved.
It was interesting to see Ichigo's friend's reaction to being told they needed to say goodbye, especially Keigo. Ichigo's power getting too strong to come back to the World of the Living? Now that's the thing that isn't realistic. It's super awesome he's getting powerful and all, but if he was really THAT powerful, then he would have no problem at all defeating any enemy. It just doesn't make sense.
A little action is involved in the end, and as soon as the Captains thought it was possible to defeat a Quincy without a Bankai, everything backfired and we are left with a cliffhanger.
Ah, back to the cliffhangers. I almost forgot how much Tite Kubo enjoys them. ;3
Anyway, I'm not exactly sure if the next volume is out or not yet, but if it isn't I'm going to be very obsessive with Bleach for the next couple of weeks. (Rhyme not intended).
*SIGH*, gosh dang these cliffhangers... The worst ones are when someone is about to die (or so you think).
Read information about the author久保 帯人, also transliterated Taito Kubo, or Jiu bao dai ren.
The son of a town council member in Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima. He never took drawing seriously until he was 17; after reading Dragon Ball he knew he wanted to be a manga artist. At the age of 18 he submitted his first concept for the series Zombiepowder but it got rejected. Zombiepowder was rejected multiple times until Kubo was 22, when it finally was accepted by Shonen Jump. It did not last long; it was cancelled after four volumes in late 2000.
His next series, Bleach, about a high school student who becomes a shinigami and fights hollows, was not such a failure. Bleach began regular publication in 2001. It has been running in Weekly Shonen Jump ever since.
